Bali Kopi House.....

The Popular Coffee Spot!

Kopi Bali House seemed to take a long time to build. It is on Jln. By Pass Ngurah Rai at 405, close to Sanur's southernmost entrance. For many months after the opening the place appeared to be very quiet, then slowly more and more cars would be parked out in front. It appears that those who have ventured in one time have also returned again later as now it can be almost impossible to get parking. Always a good sign when customers vote with their feet! Downstairs is in a modern café style, with pastries, cakes, etc. Whilst upstairs is a relaxed elegant restaurant, still very casual, with a full menu. Everywhere, of course, is that great Butterfly brand coffee, Bali's most famous! - June 9, 2004

Kopi Bali House is on Jln. By Pass Ngurah Rai at 405, close to the southern Sanur exit. Since its opening it has slowly become busier and busier. What used to be an ample parking area; is now often full. They have recently added many interesting new items to their menu. The Prawn Spring Rolls are most unusual. Prawn meat is rolled inside a light casing that almost bubbles upon deep frying, a tangy soy bean dipping sauce complements perfectly. Prawns Madagaskar are breaded and deep fried with mushrooms and onions and served with a sauce of tomato and brandy. A Chicken 'Gordon Blue' [when will we escape this word strangulation in Bali?], is an unusual variation on a theme; the crumbed fillet being rolled around ham and cheese, and cross-sliced. A Goulash Soup and two interesting salads [Mandarin Chicken and a sweet and spicy Turkey] are also amongst the newcomers. Tasty food and reasonably priced, no wonder the place is always full! - January 18, 2006

Bali Kopi House, Jln ByPass Ngurah Rai, Sanur has been very popular ever since its opening. Only the smokers were disappointed, as it has always been a smoke-free zone. Now open next door [housed in a totally separate building] is the Kopi Bali Gallery. Currently on display are the incredibly impressive works of Rudy Sri Handoko who for this exhibition has used only roasted coffee as a painting medium. Amazing depth in a hundred different shades of brown! The menu at Kopi Bali Gallery is exactly the same as next door, the food emanating from the same kitchen. New is an excellent Breakfast menu [available from 7.30 a.m., daily] that even includes Australian [steak and eggs] and Swiss [roesti] breakfast options. Feel like a cognac with your Butterfly brand coffee, well now at Kopi Bali Gallery you can even enjoy that cigar with it as well, as the area is both air-conditioned and smoker welcome. - May 23, 2007
