Kafe Arma.....

A Balinese Cafe!

Kafe Arma is located at the car park entrance to the Arma Museum, on Jln. Pengosetan, Ubud. Previously a bit of a backwater for coffee and snacks the new Balinese creation from their chef has had many people coming to try it out. Bebek Mabuk is a variation on a theme, Balinese Crispy Duck but marinated in Balinese Brem [sweet rice wine], hence a new Balinese dish, Drunken Duck. There are many other interesting snacks and meals here, it is mostly local cuisine but with a few modern touches. The Spring Rolls ar stuffed with a sweet potato mash and duck meat, the dip a tangy peanut, Sup Timun is soup of cucumber and tomato in coconut milk, Opor Ayam that unique Indonesian curried chicken, Gingered BBQ Chicken or a BBQ Butterfish with spicy lime vinaigrette and a vegetable crepe. Whilst a little out of the way Kafe Arma is a nice reclusive sort of place for that quiet break, away from the madding crowd! How many restaurants and cafes in Ubud have their own parking area for 20 cars and a bus or three? - January 14, 2009
