Cafe Komodo.....

Mind That Dragon!

A stroll in the garden at the Sanur Paradise Plaza, down by the swimming pools, and you come across a surprise. Café Komodo is an al fresco dining experience, casual but still very professional. Dine at the garden edge, or inside the restaurant proper.

The menu is more or less what you would expect in a café at an International hotel in Bali. A little bit of everything to satisfy all tastes. Some Indonesian and some International with an Asian flavour!

The Chicken Spring Rolls are wrapped in crisp pastry and come with a tangy plum sauce. Marinated Beef is wrapped in rice paper, Thai style sweet chilli sauce on the side. The Chicken Wings are stuffed with a vegetable and cheese mix, finger-licking good!

For the health conscious, a Garden Salad [with avocado, feta and sun-dried tomatoes], a Tuna and Sesame Seed Shredded Salad with pine nuts. Their special Caesar Salad has bacon bits with lemon pepper breast of chicken.

The mandatory Club Sandwich is served with chunky fries, A Submarine of Beef [long baguette] or Blackened Chicken Breast [Cajun style] on a soft roll. For the vegetarians a Foccacia with char grilled Tempeh, drizzled with peanut sauce, is combined with capsicum, eggplant, avocado, onion, oven-roasted tomatoes and humus.

The Asian Pizza has pork charsui, smoked chicken and mushrooms with lemongrass and chilli oil. A Marinara Pizza has a load of seafood, mud crab pieces, tuna, prawns and anchovy.

For the hungry, a variety of mains: their Seafood Fettuccine is tossed with mud crab, clams, squid, king prawns and fish. King Prawns are stirred stir-fried with spices. An Indian Chicken Tikka comes with cucumber riata. Rack of Lamb, Steaks and a Seafood Extravaganza [fish, squid, prawn and tuna, with a variety of sauces] are all available.

The normal Indonesian dishes are here [Nasi and Mie Gorengs, Sates and a Nasi Campur], but also Ayam Panggang Bumbu Rujak [Balinese style chicken with long beans and rice].

Fancy a Banana Sandwich? Crisp Banana Bread is wrapped around banana ice cream and coconut sauce. The hot Black Cherry Pie, with ice cream, is hard to beat!

A most pleasant place to while away an hour, or two, or three!
